IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. You can get your phone’s IMEI number by just dialing *#06# or you can check the phone’s invoice. You can also get your IMEI number by going to Settings > About Phone > Status > IMEI number.

Why You Need IMEI of a Lost Android Phone?
You must need an IMEI number before filing any police complaint against your lost phone or if you want to track your lost phone, the only method to do that is by tracking the IMEI number. IMEI is a unique identification of every phone that gives it an identity among so many smartphones.
As per law, you need to file an FIR if you lose the phone. The lost phone can be used for illegal activities but if you have an FIR registered for that, you are not responsible for any further activity that happened using your lost smartphone. Along with all that, you will also see the Android Phone info & backup you are using with your Google account. Here is how you can get the IMEI number of lost Android phones using Google Dashboard.
1. All you need to do is Open Google Chrome, Sign in to your Google Account (Gmail account) and go to Google Dashboard.
2. Here you will see Android Backup Tab. Click on the tab and you will see all the devices connected to your Google account. Along with the IMEI number, you would also get the last activity that happened on your phone.
3. Once you click on that, it will show the Android phone associated with the Google account. You will also be able to see the wifi network it is connected to, whether the phone is charging or not charging. Click on the little ‘i’ button to see the IMEI number of your phone.
Not just IMEI, you will also see the last seen of your phone and with that, you will be able to know if your phone is working right now or not. If your phone is active, will also be able to see the last location of your Android phone on Google Maps.
If your Android phone has been lost, you can secure your device right from this Google Dashboard. By clicking on Secure device, it will get locked and you can even erase all the data right from this one button.
Not just that, you can also use Track My Phone on Google Dashboard to reveal the real-time location of the phone but the phone must be connected to the internet. It will not track the real-time location without the internet. You can still see the last location but no real-time location without the internet.
