WhatsApp might stop working on your older phone. WhatsApp made it public that WhatsApp would end the support of the app in older phones by the end of 2016.
“While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future,” mentioned in WhatsApp official blog.
So, if you have Android 2.2 device, iPhone 3GS or any Apple device with iOS 6, BlackBerry OS, Windows 7 phone, then you would no longer enjoy the WhatsApp. The reason behind this step is the lack of functionality in this device.
Every App developer needs to update it’s app to match the level of competition in the market. That’s why app developers keep on bringing new updates with add-on features. To add more in the application experience, the developer also needs to keep an eye on the compatibility with the devices.
We all experience the updates of WhatsApp and they would keep coming and the old devices no more able to handle the new updates of WhatsApp.
WhatsApp also said that dropping support of these devices would give an opportunity to work on other mobile phone platforms that are being used by the majority of users.
Earlier, WhatsApp also said that they would end the support of the WhatsAp for Nokia S40 and Nokia S60 devices but later they extends the support of these devices till 30th June 2017.
So, if you want to use WhatsApp then either you have to upgrade your software if available or you need to upgrade your device. The new updates of Whatsapp are coming soon in which you can delete or edit the sent messages.
“This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp.”- WhatsApp official Blog.
