Apple iPhone X
Let’s begin with the most awaited smartphone of 2017. This year, Apple celebrates 10 Year Anniversary of iPhone and launched a special edition iPhone called iPhone X. Along with iPhone X, Apple also launched iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 Plus.
Talking about iPhone X, this 10th Anniversary iPhone has futuristic design having an edge to edge display (82.9% Screen to body Ratio) packed in a beautiful stainless steel body with 5.8-Inch Retina HD display having 1125 x 2436 resolution. iPhone X is now powered by A11 Bionic Chip which is way powerful than any other smartphone processor coupled with 3 Gigs of RAM and comes in 64GB & 256GB variant.
Apple is popular in setting trends in the industry and with every new iPhone, we witness something new, something innovative. This time with iPhone X, Apple introduces the all new FaceID. You will not find Fingerprint sensor and Home button on the new iPhone X. TouchID is now replaced by FaceID where your face is your password.
The dedicated Illuminator and Dot projector sensor on the top of the iPhone emits invisible light on your face that creates 30,000 points on your face which then transmits data to Neural Engine, a dedicated hardware to process 30,000 face points, for further processing. You just need to look at the phone to unlock the iPhone X. Along with that, iPhone X is now ready for Augmented Reality.
For Camera job, iPhone X has 12MP Wide Angle & Telephoto camera sensor with f/1.8 & f/2.8 aperture respectively. Moreover, there is a new software gimmick called Portrait Lightning where you can set the light on the face while capturing the portraits. And now, with iPhone X, you can capture portrait shots also with 7MP f/2.2 aperture front facing camera sensor.
This software gimmick does make the portrait look more professional but this is not something that adds any value to the phone. Any smartphone capable of capturing portrait mode can do that with some extra filter app. Anyhow, this feature is in beta mode but it will get the full version through a software update.
The price of the new iPhone X starts from $999 and you can buy the iPhone X after 3 November. More about iPhone X Availability here.

Apple iPhone 8 Plus
By looking at the iPhone 8 Plus, you will merely find any difference. The design of the iPhone 8 Plus is very much similar to its predecessor that is iPhone 7 Plus. iPhone 8 Plus now comes in New Glass and Aluminum Design. The difference lies inside on the circuit board.

Google Pixel 2 & Pixel 2 XL
For all those Stock Android fans out there, Google launched Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL with better specs, camera but not the design. Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are the flagship smartphones by Google and like previous Pixel phones, this new generation Pixel phones came up with some really great Android experience.
Pixel 2 comes in a smaller package that runs on Snapdragon 835 Octa-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM & comes in 64GB & 128GB storage variant. Pixel 2 has beautiful 5 inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 resolution. Difference between Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL lies only in the screen size. While Pixel 2 comes in the 5-Inch display, Pixel 2 XL comes with 6-inches P-OLED display with 1440 x 2880 resolution. Under the hood, there is no difference in both the phones.
Last year, Pixel has the best ever smartphone camera and Google is carrying forward the legacy this year also. Both Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 comes with 12.2 MP, f/1.8 camera sensor with Optical Image Stabilization & Dual LED Flash. Now you may notice the bold step taken by Google to not adding dual camera setup while other flagships like Note 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X already has the dual camera setup. For a manufacturer, it is easy to convince the customer by showing the actual hardware (dual cameras) instead of convincing them through technical aspects (DxOMark).
While other smartphones took portrait shots from Dual Cameras, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is capable enough to take portrait shots with just the single 12MP camera sensor. All thanks to the camera software and the camera optimization by Google’s engineers. While iPhone 8 Plus and Note 8 has the DxOMark of 94, Pixel 2 scored the DxOMark of 98 which is highest DxOMark score ever for a smartphone camera.
With that, you can indeed capture some of the greatest pictures right from your Pixel 2 phone.
Apart from Camera, there are a lot of software gimmicks for the new Pixel 2 phone. One of my favorites is indeed the Google Lens where your Pixel 2 will recognize the places, objects, language from the camera itself. Another one is the song recognition where your Pixel 2 will automatically show you the name of the song playing around you. For an pure Android experience, there is nothing better than the Pixel 2.
