So, in order to listen to Spotify Privately, you need to activate Spotify Private Session which will help you in hiding what you are listening to. On the other, if you are someone who like to share your taste in music, you can add friends on Spotify. You will be able to see what your friends are listening to and vice-versa.
You can activate the Spotify Private session on the Spotify Desktop app easily, just see the steps below:
If you are not using Spotify App on Windows or Mac computer, you can download the Spotify app as it offers you better UI and features. I am using the latest version of Spotify as mentioned in the screenshot below. If you are seeing any updates, please update the app before proceeding further.
1. On the Spotify app, you need to click on the Arrow near your Profile Picture.
2. After clicking on the profile, you will see the option to activate ‘Private Session’. Simply click on that.
3. Once you have done that, you will see a ‘ Lock 🔒 ‘ icon at the front which means, you are now listening to Spotify music privately and none of your friends will get to know your weird taste in music

How to Activate Spotify Private Session Android & iPhone
Just like Spotify Desktop App, you can use the Spotify Private Session feature on smartphones (Android & iPhone) as well. To activate Spotify Private Session on Android, iPhone, simply follow the below-mentioned steps:
1. Go to Settings on the Top Right Corner.
2. Now scroll a little bit you will see the Private Session option, simply toggle the button to activate Spotify Private Session.
Once you activate Private Session, you can listen to music anonymously on the Spotify app. To listen to Spotify With Friends, you can turn off the Private Session.
