There was a lot of buzz about the Samsung’s upcoming flagship on the internet. We saw leaks of design, specs, camera, AI and whatnot. We even took a glance at the Galaxy S8’s front glass. The design of Galaxy S8 was looking really futuristic from those leaks. But, on 29th March, Samsung finally unveils the Samsung Galaxy S8.
Samsung Galaxy S8: What’s New
Samsung launched two S8s. One is Samsung Galaxy S8 with 5.8′ OLED Display and another is Galaxy S8 Plus with 6.2′ OLED Display with the resolution of 2960×1440. Both the displays have the same resolution which is going to be a bit sharper in S8 with 5.8″ Display. The thing worth mentioning here is the design. The design of the Samsung Galaxy S8 is phenomenal, amazing, beautiful, Jaw dropping. There are round display edges on both the sides like we saw on S7 Edge but this time, Samsung’s engineers worked real-real hard to give a revolutionary design to the smartphone industry. Samsung has started the war of beautiful looking smartphone.
The display of Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus blends beautifully with the metal and glass bezels which ultimately gives the NO BEZELS experience to the user. The spills off display look really good to the eyes and to make it revolutionary. Samsung calls it Infinity Display. Samsung just cut off the physical navigation buttons and stretch the display to the top and to the bottom which gives us a beautiful looking Samsung Galaxy S8 with Infinity Display.
There is no physical Navigation button on the Galaxy S8 and Samsung integrated the Home, Back & minimize button on the display. Samsung also moved the Finger-Print sensor to the back as display needs more space to become an Infinity Display. The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are the first Smartphone with IP68 certification that makes S8 & S8 Plus water and dust resistant.
What is newer on the Galaxy S8 is the Samsung’s AI which is now integrated on the Galaxy S8. Samsung calls it Bixby. Bixby is Samsung’s AI which works similar to Google Now. Bixby also shows the important news, weather, e-mails, Scores etc. But, Samsung tried to make Bixby little bit more intelligent and Samsung did that by giving Bixby the ability to recognize things. If you show Bixby a product, it will automatically recognize it and will show you the product online. You can buy the product from there. Samsung is really excited about Bixby and that is the reason that Samsung actually added a physical button on the left below volume rocker to activate Bixby. This shows the commitment of Samsung towards Bixby
Samsung also emphasis on the security of the Galaxy S8. For that reasons, like Samsung did that in Note 7, there is an Iris Scanner on the Galaxy S8. All you need is to place the phone parallel to your eyes and it would scan the Iris of your eyes to unlock the phone. Moreover, Samsung also added Face Recognition sensor which will create a software image of your face to recognize its real owner. The sensor will recognize your face and if it finds other than you, the phone will remain Locked. The fingerprint sensor is now moved to back near the camera which is required to develop the Infinity Display but if your hands are not big, you will struggle to reach to the fingerprint scanner.
Samsung Galaxy S8: Not So New
Considering the market demand, unlike Apple, Samsung still manages to adjust the 3.5mm jack on the Galaxy S8. Samsung also giving a pair of in-ear type earphones by AKG within the box which is a great step to maintain the legacy of 3.5mm jack. There is also USB Type-C Port for charging and other connectivity.
The Rear Camera of Galaxy S8 is not so new and comes with 12MP camera sensor with f/1.7 Aperture. For selfies, Samsung improved the camera and added 8MP wide angle lens that too with f/1.7 Aperture. The rear camera can record the 4K videos at 30FPS and 1080P Videos at 60FPS. Galaxy S8 can also record Slow Motion Videos of 720p at 240FPS.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Battery?
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus comes with 5.8″ OLED Super AMOLED Display and 6.2″ OLED Super AMOLED Display which is stretched from the top to bottom giving the aspect ratio of 18.5:9 which is super tall display. A big Snapdragon 835 Octa-Core Processor and 4GB RAM. All these are powered by 3000mAh battery which for me is little weird. As the processor is based on 10nm technology, we can expect at least a decent battery backup.
Samsung Galaxy S8: Beautiful Piece of Tech
That is all about the Samsung’s Flagship. No doubt, the phone is beautifully designed and the infinity display is a most beautiful thing we have ever seen on a smartphone. The battery can be a problem and Samsung knows it that’s why they introduced a new Charging Dock for wireless charging for Samsung Galaxy S8. Along with that, Samsung also launched a 360 Degree camera, Samsung DeX for PC experience of Galaxy S8. Just place your S8 on the Samsung DeX and there you go. You can access your Galaxy S8 on a PC. There is also a VR Headset with a wireless controller for the amazing entertainment experience.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 plus will be available from 21st April and you can Pre-Register here.
Last Year was a nightmare for Samsung as Note 7 start to catch fire due to flaws in the battery. But, we hope, Samsung Launched just a smartphone but not a Smartphone cum bomb.
