After so many leaks and hypes, OnePlus finally launched the OnePlus 5 globally. OnePlus streamed the LIVE event on Youtube, Twitter and on OnePlus UK Website. In case you missed that, watch it here.
Leaks already ruined the curiosity and excitement of knowing anything new on the OnePlus 5. Most of the specifications were already known to us. Thanks to leaks. So, for the final time, here is everything and confirmed about the new OnePlus 5.
OnePlus 5 Specifications
OnePlus 5 is powered by 2.45GHz Snapdragon 835 Processor which is based on the 10nm chipset. That means phone would definitely be fast and power efficient when compared with OnePlus 3T. For graphics, OnePlus 5 has Adreno 540 GPU for the smooth graphic experience. The OnePlus 5 is coupled with up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM which is massive for a smartphone (Do we need that much RAM on a Smartphone. Share your Thoughts in the comments). The phone runs on Oxygen OS which is based on Android 7.1 with some extra features like Reading Mode, Gaming DND Mode and other small significant modifications but it is very much close to the Stock Android.
The OnePlus 5 has 2 variants one with the 64GB/6GB RAM and another with 128GB/8GB RAM. OnePlus 5 uses UFS 2.1 2-LANE technology for faster storage access. There is a fingerprint sensor at the front which is made of ceramic and OnePlus claims that it is super responsive and can unlock the device in 0.2 seconds.
OnePlus 5 also comes with Gaming DND mode that you can activate while playing a game or using any particular app. With Gaming DND Mode, soft keys would get temporarily disabled to get rid of accidental taps and it will also mute the notifications.
OnePlus 5 Design
The design is pretty good and OnePlus 5 is pretty thin with 7.25mm thickness and with this thickness, OnePlus 5 is thinner OnePlus ever. The back and the front is divided Horizon Line (like the horizon separates the earth and the sky) which blends with the rounded corner to give a sleek design to OnePlus 5. OnePlus 5 is made of Anodized Aluminum which does give a premium and elegant look to the phone. OnePlus 5 also has the LED notification at the front. Like every OnePlus, OnePlus 5 also has Alert Slider to switch to different profiles.
Aesthetically, OnePlus did not come up with any innovation or something new in the design. The design is copied from iPhone 7 Plus and Oppo R11 but it is a healthy copy which does not make any big difference
OnePlus 5 Connectivity
For connectivity, OnePlus 5 comes with Bluetooth 5.0 just like Samsung Galaxy S8 in which you can connect two Bluetooth speakers at the same time. Moreover, with Bluetooth 5.0, file transferring and connectivity would also be improved. OnePlus 5 also comes with NFC. Along with that, both the SIM slots supports LTE/LTE-A that means you can access 4G on both the slots. OnePlus 5 also has Type-C, Dual nano-SIM slot,3.5mm audio jack

OnePlus 5 Display
Talking about the display, OnePlus 5 has 5.5-Inch Full HD Optic Display with the resolution of 1080 x 1920 and pixel density of 401 ppi. The display is protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. OnePlus 5 also added up the Reading Mode in the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5 is the first phone that changes the display colors according to the environment.
With the new Oxygen OS which is based on Android Nougat, you would get another feature of Expanded Capture where the phone automatically captures the screenshots of the screen while scrolling automatically and gives you a long screenshot. You can stop it just by tapping on the screen.
OnePlus 5 Camera
The camera was the only thing which was safe from the leaks and we did not have any idea about the OnePlus 5 Camera. Talking about front facing the camera, OnePlus 5 has a 16MP front facing Sony IMX 371 camera lens with the pixel size of 1.0 µm.
On the back, OnePlus 5 has 2 cameras. Just like iPhone 7 Plus (Literally just like that). OnePlus 5 comes with a Sony IMX 398 16MP f/1.7 rear camera coupled with a 20MP f/2.6 telephoto camera lens for extra zoom and the Portraits. With the small aperture, you can capture beautiful shots even in the low light.
OnePlus 5 now comes with SmartCapture which is basically a software that scans the photo to make it smooth and noise free. Using algorithms, Smart Capture automatically adjust the ISO, White Balance, Exposure of the photo to make it even better.
The OnePlus 5 camera comes with different modes like Portrait, Pro Mode, Panorama, HDR, HQ, Dynamic Denoise, Clear Image, RAW Image.
The camera of OnePlus 5 is pretty convincing and it would be really fun to test the camera with other Dual cameras flagships like Apple iPhone 7 Plus and LG G6.
OnePlus 5 Battery & Pricing
The OnePlus 5 is based on a 10nm architecture which makes the phone power efficient as it takes less power for the processor to interact with other components of the phone. OnePlus 5 has the powerhouse of 3,300mAH battery which is non-removable. Like always, you would get the Dash Charging which is OnePlus’s very own technology for faster charging.
At the launch event, OnePlus was bragging about the Dash Charging by comparing Dash Charging on OnePlus 5 with the adaptive charging of Samsung Galaxy S8.
