Moto is at #2 in India by acquiring 10% of Indian Smartphone Market and indeed, India is a big market for Moto.
Let’s take an overview of both Moto G5 and G5 Plus
Design & Hardware
Both Moto G5 and G5 plus no more look like its predecessor. The Moto G5 and G5 Plus got all new look. Now there is no plastic body and now got the aluminum body which indeed upped the premium factor on both the devices. The back panel of Moto G5 is removable but surprisingly no removable back panel in Moto G5 Plus.
The Fingerprint sensor is a bit changed in design wise as well software wise. There is fingerprint sensor on both Moto G5 and G5 Plus which is embedded into a physical home button having gesture control. You can swipe the physical button to go back, forward or to tap the for Home screen.
The physical design of the camera is also changed and now comes within a big black circle (Like Moto Z Play) in the middle. (We will talk more about camera later in this post)
Let’s talk about some numbers for the nerds. Under the hood, Moto G5 has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 SoC. It also comes with 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM options depending on the region and comes with 16GB and 32GB of storage which can be expanded using SDCard.
Whereas, Moto G5 Plus is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC, which is power and battery efficient. It would also come in 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM options depending on the region and comes with 16GB and 32GB of storage which is expandable using an SDCard. Moto G5 is powered by 2800mAh battery while G5 Plus has the powerhouse of 3000mAh battery which is same as in Moto G4 Plus and also supports fast charging.
Out of the box, both Moto G5 and G5 Plus would run on Android N also with Google Assistant with some Moto apps like Moto Display.
The Moto G5 has 5-inch full HD display which is an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen having 1080 x 1920 resolution. The screen of Moto G5 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
This is the part which does make some serious differences between G5 and G5 Plus. The Moto G5 has 13-megapixel rear with f/2.0 aperture whereas Moto G5 Plus has 12-megapixel rear camera with a f/1.7 aperture which is an amazing thing considering the price range.
Samsung provides f/1.7 lenses in their high-end galaxy devices which do process some beautiful pictures even in low light with beautiful bokeh effect. Another big addition in the camera of G5 Plus is Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), wherein both rear cameras can focus on a subject at the blink of an eye. The camera of Moto G5 Plus is also capable of shooting 4K Ultra HD Videos.

The price of Moto G4 Plus was around ₹14,000. The under the 15K category is quite competitive in India. We already have Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Honor 6X, Lenovo Zuk 2 Plus etc under the 15K category.
