Every cellular phone may it Smartphone or basic phone has a unique number which is the identification of your phone, that number is IMEI. IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. You can get your phone’s IMEI number by just dialing *#06#. Your phone’s IMEI number is also mentioned in the invoice. You can also get your IMEI number by going to Settings > About Phone > Status > IMEI number. But what, if you lost your phone and invoice too.
You must need an IMEI number before filing any complaint against your lost phone or if you want to track your lost phone, the only method to do that by tracking the IMEI number.
You can blacklist your phone which would prevent anyone to use your phone for calling or for any other cellular service. As per the law enforcement, you need to file a FIR against your lost phone. For blacklist your phone, the telecom provider would also ask for the copy of FIR before taking any further action. For any further inquiry against your lost phone, you must need an IMEI number. But How would you get that?
Don’t worry, you can get your phone’s IMEI number using google account. All you need to do is to go to Google Dashboard. Under it, you would find Android Tab. Click on the tab and you would see your all the devices connected to your google account. Along with the IMEI number, you would also get the last activity happened on your phone. You would also see the list of apps installed on your device.
Unfortunately, iPhone users cannot do this for getting an IMEI number. So it would be better to have a record of your iPhone’s IMEI number before it gets lost. (who knows)
